State Music Festival
May 5-6, 2023

The State Music Festival is in Missoula this year, and presents a great opportunity for musicians to learn. They will perform for adjudication and get to hear others perform. All the students will be expected to be on time (or early), dressed appropriately, with all materials needed. Good behavior is required while at the Festival as anywhere else with the school group. Even when not performing, students may not wear grubby clothes, this is a special event and everyone should make an effort to look their best (dress up!). All students who are participating must be on the bus, unless parents make other arrangements with the teacher. During the day we can be reached for an emergency at U of M School of Music, phone # 243-6880 of cell 406 468-5483. The school will provide lunch and supper for the students and chaperons on this trip. Students should bring some money along for extras.

Included with this letter is a form we need in order for a student to go with us on this trip. Please do so today, so there is one less thing to do when we leave for the festival.

The full Friday schedule can be found here soon.

Friday - All our events are on Friday this year

The bus will load at 8:00 am and leave right away. Be here on time! Each student must make sure the measures are numbered in the music given to the adjudicator, and that no photo-copied music is given to them. The times listed are the start time of each hour-long cluster. During each cluster the performers are to stay in their room for the entire time. Here are the scheduled performances from Cascade:

Time Name Type Title Adjudicator Room
11:30 am Zoe Mazaira clarinet solo Nocturne John Combs MUS RM 204
12:30 pm Lunch
3:35 pm Kylee Finn flute solo Largo Jenny Hunt ED RM 215

After our final cluster we'll pick up our adjudication forms and head for home. We'll get supper on the way home.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!
