The high school musicians from Cascade performed at the District Music Festival April 19-20 in Great Falls. There were 10 solos or ensembles that performed on Friday and all did very well. Those that earned a "I" (Superior) qualify to go on to the State Music Festival on May 4-5 in Helena.

All of our student musicians earned earned praise from their adjudicators. After they performed their music the adjudicators worked with the students, and our young musicians learned a lot from this experience. Even though we had some voices that were recovering from ailments and some small groups that had to regroup because of sudden personnel changes, our Cascade Music Departments showed what great work our young musicians are doing. Many thanks go to our accompanist Wendy McKamey for all the good work and support she gives us.

The Concert Band earned Superior (I) ratings in the prepared music in the sight reading evaluation. The Concert Choir earned an Excellent (II) rating on the prepared music and Superior (I) sight reading (WOO HOO!).  Mr. Skogley is very proud of the performances of the Band and Choir (large groups do not advance to the State Music Festival regardless of their ratings) as well as our soloists and ensemble members. What a great bunch of kids to teach!

The ratings used at Music Festivals are:

I
A superior performance - Outstanding in nearly every detail

II
An excellent performance -
Minor defects

III
A good performance - lacking finesse and/or interpretation

IV
