March Dear Cascade Families, March will prove to be a very exciting and active month at Cascade Public Schools! Junior High basketball and wrestling are in full swing. BPA is taking 28 students to state March 8-10. Regional Science Fair is March 12. State FFA is March 24-28. Our Junior High Dance is March 19th at 6:00 PM and Prom is March 21 at 7:00 PM. Remember: Free OSHA training starts March 30th at 8:00 AM. Please call the school if you have any questions about activities. We will direct you to the correct contact! Smart phones. The school allows students to use their phones before and after school, lunch time, and during passing time for the Junior High and High School students. During class time, phones are to be on silent and put away. In the past few months, most of the discipline instances I’ve dealt with involve social media bullying and threats made while students were out of school. Parents, please teach your students that nothing truly disappears off a smart phone and social media accounts. The deputies can easily gain access to any post, picture, or video. If outside school behavior affects students and education at school, there can be school disciplinary action taken as well as law enforcement consequences. Communication. We are always trying to improve communication. As social media trends are ever changing, we are trying to utilize our website as the source of information. You can subscribe to get the latest postings. We also make sure when we post News on the webpage we also post a link to our Facebook page, so like our Facebook page to keep informed! Survey Season. Staff and students have taken the MyVoice survey the past month. We use the results to focus our school improvement. We will be publishing a community MyVoice Survey this month on the website. It will be open for two weeks so please encourage your neighbors to provide feedback. This survey does not allow for open comment responses, so if you have a great idea, please email or set up a meeting with me. I’m already looking forward to all the great things we will accomplish and the opportunities for our students next year! Respectfully,Nichole Pieper
